SARRALLE: Successful Startup of the New Meltshop at AMNS Calvert (USA)
SARRALLE is pleased to announce the successful startup of the new greenfield meltshop at AMNS Calvert in Alabama, USA. This milestone marks a significant achievement for both our company and our valued client, AM/NS Calvert LLC—a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel Corporation.
This state-of-the-art steelmaking facility is designed to produce 1.5 million metric tons of steel annually, supporting the automotive and industrial markets across North America.
The plant features the following latest-generation equipment supplied by SARRALLE:
• Sarralle Blue Efficient Arc, a 180-ton DC Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) designed for optimum energy efficiency and productivity.
• A 180-ton Twin Ladle Furnace (LF) for precise secondary metallurgy processes.
• A material handling plant that supplies various workstations, including systems for adding pre-reduced materials to the EAF.
• The Sarralle Bluesky Plant, our latest-generation fume treatment system, ensuring compliance with stringent environmental standards.
• A STATCOM system, engineered to meet the strictest power grid requirements.
• Plus, additional auxiliary equipment that completes and optimizes the meltshop’s operation.
The plant also includes a Degasser (RH) and a Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) .
